PROMISEMETHIS REBOUNDS, WINS 2ND MEADOWS SERIES SPLIT
WASHINGTON, PA, April 24, 2013 - Rebounding from an uncharacteristic break last week, Promisemethis sailed to a front-end victory in Wednesday's Trotslikethewind Trot at The Meadows. Gliding To Glory took the other $12,500 third-leg split in the series for 3-year-old fillies. The $20,000 (est.) series final is set for Wednesday, May 1.
After winning her division in the series' opening leg, Promisemethis made an inexplicable break on the lead in the second leg. On Wednesday, she was smooth in the slop for Dan Rawlings, holding off her stablemate, Chiptomylou, by 2 lengths, with Photosavvy third.
Enjoying the exacta was trainer Rick Beinhauer, who also owns the duo with Regina Beinhauer. Promisemethis, a daughter of Chip Chip Hooray-Promisemespring, has won nine of 12 lifetime starts.
Gliding To Glory was out for Dick Stillings before the three-eighths but relentlessly wore down the leader, Monroe County, to defeat her by a length in a career-best 1:58.3. Prettysydney Ridge earned show. Rich Gillock trains the daughter of Glidemaster-Balance The Paige for Trot A Lot Canada.
In the $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Pace, J Matt pulled off a 14-1 shocker with a wide rally for Brian Zendt, trainer Tammy Cummings and owner Double Up Stable. He scored in 1:53, a neck better than PL Dragon, with Hugadragon third. The 7-year-old Apaches Fame-Fritzie Shyann gelding now boasts $165,079 in career earnings.
Dave Palone drove three winners on the 12-race card.
